Under the Bridge

Dreamer(s). Pisces season opens the door to something not quite there. Yet. Or so we perceive.

The Sun, the brightest, most 'powerful' planet, moves into Pisces and stays here until 20th March. This is the wrap up. This is the light of the Sun illuminating those final corners holding old and new dreams alike, holding wishes that didn't quite form...or not fully. Yet. Holding hope. The last bits of it.

Today, 18th February, Venus meets the North Node at 9°37' Pisces and, hours later, the Sun crosses into Pisces at 0°. The season opens with a conjunction and an invitation. By 20th February, Saturn meets Neptune at 0°45' of Aries… the old guard handing the dream to a new form. Mercury stations retrograde on the 26th at 22°33', pulling us inward to re-listen just as the Sun meets the North Node on the 27th at 9°06'. And on the 28th, Mercury and Venus meet at 22°15'. The mind and the heart, briefly, speaking the same language. Lush.

I wrote an article last year, as the nodes moved into Pisces and Virgo, and called Pisces 'the bridge'. We're given traits of each of the preceding eleven signs and we're told that we hold all of them at once. No mean feat! And yes, true. We're also mirrors and moulds. We are the most fluid of all the signs as we're formless. A bridge between what is and what will be. But what is the bridge built on?

Neptune, just having moved into Aries after a 14-year waterslide ride in Pisces, may feel like a relief...to some. Off with the rose-tinted glasses, up with the desire to revolutionise our spiritual identity. Neptune is the modern ruler of Pisces, now at 0° Aries and about to be met by Saturn on 20th February. Showing up in this new identity, with form, is now required.

The nodes have been in Pisces and Virgo for a year now. Yesterday's Aquarius eclipse gave us a glimpse of the next chapter, but we're not there yet. The bridge of Pisces, the symbolism of it being the last sign, asks: where along that bridge are we? Collectively. Personally. How far from the other side are we standing and what's being asked of us to cross it? Saturn, at 0° Aries, having just left Pisces after two and a half years, is standing at the end of that bridge saying: form up, or don't come over.

We're one of two dual signs, often intending one thing, but doing the opposite. (Guess the other!!) We're misunderstood, because we love validation, but we also want to isolate. We're full of empathy and we'd rather be in nature, with animals, looking at the clouds.

Pisces season arrives with Venus exalted here, meeting the North Node, pulling us collectively towards softness and subtlety. Pisces is a mutable, feminine, water sign and its season is a final chapter, each year, before we begin a new cycle, again, at Equinox. It's a sign that holds each one before it and a master at dissolving itself into no thing, and yet it is every thing.

To quote myself, from 5th Feb 2025:

“oṃ pūrṇamadaḥ pūrṇamidam pūrṇāt pūrṇamudacyate .

pūrṇasya pūrṇamādāya pūrṇamevāvaśiṣyate .

oṃ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ

(Meaning: "What is visible is the infinite. What is invisible is also the infinite. Out of the Infinite Being the finite has come, yet being infinite, only infinite remains.")

This is one of my favourite Vedic Mantras, which, to me, vibrates with a Pisces frequency. Purna in Sanskrit means Full/Whole/Boundless (with Divine Consciousness)... more Pisces words right there! When I chant this mantra, I feel expansive, whole and yet it takes me to the essence of my being, a one thing, asking for surrender.”

This is the sign and season of the healer. In its highest vibration, Pisces offers compassion and presence. (Supported by the opposite Virgo precision, obvs.)

This is the sign of both suffering and surrender.

A master of suffering. Pisces holds the escapism, the martyrdom, the quiet addiction to numbing out. The reaching for anything that softens the edges rather than sitting with them. The lower octave of this sign doesn't dissolve into the divine. It disappears into the fog. Venus in Pisces, with the North Node is one aspect of "meeting your soulmate". (There are many others!) And…if we follow the 'radical freedom' framework: Venus exalted in Pisces reminds us that pleasurable experiences are what we seek. But in that very seeking of these we are pulled away from the spiritual path. Pisces Season is the spiritual path.

Christopher D. Wallis talks about the "joy of consciousness". He says: "Freedom means actually experiencing the divinity in each moment, which is the same as not wanting the present moment to be any different from the way it is. When you give your heart's consent to what is, then you are no longer struggling (or even waiting) for a better situation and therefore you are free to fully show up for what is actually happening now."

Venus exalted in Pisces should also feel like a respite. Saturn isn't coming back to this part of the sky for another 30 years. We've matured here, earned the sweetness Venus is now offering. But here's the Pisces question: is the sweetness genuine nourishment, or are we reaching for it because we've been soured? Are we savouring, or are we escaping…overindulging because Jupiter in Cancer makes the comfort feel endless? The South Node in Virgo is watching. Discernment, not judgement, is the medicine.

Whether you are a Pisces or not. This is a season to dissolve all falsehood of self and others, to merge with the divine, to surrender to a state that is not a "high", but actually rather mundane.

The current Pisces pool party is all trine to Jupiter in Cancer, ruled by the Moon, also in Pisces. The mutual reception between the two says that surrender is safe. Jupiter's ability to expand Cancer's 'holding' is a blessing to two already care-giving signs. Exalted here, Jupiter doesn't just promise safety, it provides the container. The emotional ground beneath the free fall. Loosen, let go, it says, because something bigger is already holding you.

The reason Pisces is a healer's sign and that this is a season to heal and for healing, is simply because of its ability to dissolve itself, to see through and past illusions and to surrender to all that is. It becomes a witness of no thing and every thing.

And one of the most affirmative of all experiences is to be seen.

Loved. And accepted.

Just as you are.
